The 2022 World Games (TWG2022) are almost here and locals are getting in the mood with unique ways to celebrate. From block parties to a spectacular circus, here are some not-so-typical TWG2022-inspired events to check out in July in the Greater Birmingham area.

1. World Games pop-up shops

There’s no better time to show off your local love than at the World Games pop-up stores. From July 7-16, shop daily from local vendors with food, drinks, music and more.

2. Hoover Restaurant Week: World Games Edition

Hoover Restaurant Week is back July 7-17, this time to celebrate TWG2022! During the 11-day event, experience the diversity of flavors from more than 30 restaurants in the city of Hoover, featuring tasty dishes, deals and more.

3. Celebrate TWG with The Valley Hotel

Whether you’re a hotel guest or a Birmingham local, The Valley Hotel is the perfect place to grab a drink and cheer on your favorite TWG2022 teams. Just head to the Terrace Bar located in the hotel restaurant for unique cocktails inspired by TWG2022.

4. World Games Block Party

The City of Hoover celebrates TWG2022 with a World Games Block Party at Brock’s Gap Brewing Company. This free, family-friendly party will include festivities like live music and food trucks all day. Here is the live music lineup:

  • The band of negotiators – 2 p.m.
  • Music Clinton Babers – 4 p.m.
  • Eric Essix Band – 6 p.m.
  • Eat a Peach Strip – 8 p.m.

5. World Games: Children’s Edition

Celebrate the arrival of TWG2022 in Birmingham at the Hoover Public Library’s World Games: Kid’s Edition event, featuring crafts and activities.

6. The World Caribbean Games take over

Enjoy Caribbean cuisine, tropical drinks and music during the World Games “Caribbean Take Over” at Lit on 8th Bar. Music will be performed by Sky Juice Kings Caribbean Band & Trini Fresh playing the best of reggae, afrobeats and soca.

7. World Games Cultural Festival

Join Pinson Parks and Recreation and the Pinson Public Library for a World Games Cultural Festival on Monday, July 11.

Taking place at Pinson Bicentennial Park, stations will be set up to showcase the many different countries and cultures participating in TWG2022, as well as food, games and more.

*The park’s Splash Pad will be open during the event.

8. Cahaba Games

Visit the Cahaba Brewing Company Taproom July 11-17 for a week of beer games during the Cahaba Games. A different game will be offered each day with prizes to be won.

Here is a recap of the week’s events:

  • Monday July 11, 3-9 p.m.: Free Pinball. Get a high score + win the Cahaba Brewing walk
  • Tuesday July 12, 7-9 p.m.: Tacos + Trivia with North Alabama Trivia
  • Wednesday July 13, 7-9 p.m.: Donate to the Firehouse Community Arts Center to Play Bingo
  • Thursday July 14, 7-9 p.m.: Disc Golf hosted by Disc Golf Birmingham for a chance to win gift cards + merch
  • Friday July 15, 6-9 p.m.: Basketball “Pig” organized by the Birmingham squadron. Test your skills against the squadron mascot + win prizes
  • Saturday July 16, 12 p.m.-5 p.m.: Beer Pong Tournament + Flip Cup
  • Sunday July 17, 2-6 p.m.: High Score Skeeball Tournament

9. World Games Block Party + VIP Experience

Cahaba Brewing Company and Redmont Vodka are teaming up for a World Games Block Party + VIP Experience on Saturday July 16th. Here’s what you can expect at this family event:

The Electric Circus—World Games Celebration is coming to town and you won’t want to miss it! Here’s what to expect:

  • Live circus performers – clowns, acrobats, fire dancers, aerialists, belly dancers, stilt walkers and more!
