18 members of the choir die in a river accident in Kenya


Eighteen members of the choir died while traveling in a 52-seater school bus to the wedding of an elderly couple in Kenya.

The accident had occurred at River Enziu in Kitui on Saturday December 4.

23 bodies have been recovered so far from the crash and 18 of them were members of the Mwingi Catholic Church Choir.

Crash survivor Simon Kea has shared what happened.

He said: “We were about 40 passengers leaving Mwingi in the morning. About ten seats were empty. As we crossed the river, the 51-seater bus was full with over 15 people standing.

Mwingi East Sub-County Police Commander Joseph Yakan also disclosed that the bus driver also died.

He said: “It’s a river and it was in spate. The driver lost control and slid into a ditch. The bus capsized next to the bridge. The driver also died. The bus was leaving Mwingi Central towards Nuu in Mwingi East.

Separately, photos of the wedding ceremony of a Delta man and his two pregnant wives have surfaced on social media.

Naija News earlier reported that a Delta State man will marry two pregnant women on the same day.

Their wedding announcement had caused a stir on social networks, eliciting different reactions.

The man, identified as John Erere Nana finally made the connection with his wives on Saturday, December 4, 2021, in the South-sSouthern State.

The women identified as Patience and Elohor, both from Udu local government area in the Delta, are both with children. Read more
