Carlisle Cathedral looking for new junior choir members

CARLISLE CATHEDRAL is set to host auditions for boys and girls to join their choirs.

Both boys and girls are eligible to join the Cathedral Choir as trainees once they reach year 4, with younger children encouraged to join Carlisle Cantata.

They are selected by an audition which can take place at any mutually agreed time. No prior musical training is required; all it takes is a good ear and a love of singing. A child’s reading ability is also taken into consideration.

The life of a cathedral chorister can be challenging, rewarding and exciting – all at the same time! While providing a top-notch musical education, it also teaches some of life’s most important lessons, such as self-discipline and teamwork.

Auditions for boys and girls currently in third grade will take place in June, with successful applicants starting as choristers in September.

Auditions for female singers will take place on Saturday, June 18. The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, June 9.

The boy choir auditions will take place a week later, on Saturday June 25th. The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, June 16.
