  • Senior singers (11:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly singing group rehearsal open to all seniors in the area, regardless of singing ability. For more details see dedicated post.
  • Outdoor Preschool Story Time (10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.) @ Southborough Library Back Lawn: Join Miss Kim on the Lawn (weather permitting) for stories and crafts based on a weekly theme. Please bring a blanket or chair. No registration required.

  • Children’s Book Illustrator Virtual Conference (3:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.) @ zoom: The Southborough Library has teamed up with other local libraries to offer a special virtual event hosted by the Ashland Public Library. This is a zoom-in Q&A discussion featuring children’s book illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser (best known for Fancy Nancy books.) For more details, see dedicated post.
  • Tech Time Tuesday (4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Need help with technology? Library staff and teen volunteers will go out of their way to help you. Bring questions about eBooks and eBooks. This is a downside event; no registration required. Sessions are limited to 1 hour maximum.

  • Flyer ARHS Fall Chorus Coming HomeARHS Autumn Choir Concert (7:00 p.m.) @ Algonquin Regional High School, auditorium: A concert by the school choirs: Performances by Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Camerata Singers, Ladies First and Algoncappella. The theme is “Going Home”. Guests are welcome for $ 5 / adult, $ 3 / student, or free for NSMA members. (For more on NSMA and membership, Click here.)   • Pre-K costume parade (10:00 am) @ Finn School: They encourage families and community members to watch the parades outside, along the parade route around the school. (In case of bad weather our parade will be held indoors without visitors. However, they will record the parade and post it on their website.) For details, see page 3 of the Thursday package.
  • Mah Jongg (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The weekly schedule would like new players to join. Feel free to stop by to watch or speak to one of the players to see if you would be interested. For more details, contact the Seniors Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Outdoor story time for babies and toddlers (11:00 am – 11:45 am) @ The Back Lawn of Southborough Library: This story hour is intended for children ages 0-2 and their parents or guardians. Each session will include puppets, stories and music. No registration required.
  • Seated chair yoga (1:00 p.m.) @ Southborough Senior Center: Pre-registration required. For more details on weekly classes, see bulletin.
  • Money matters (5:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.) @ zoom: The Southborough Library is pleased to offer Money Matters to help develop the skills of children and youth ages 8-18 who can contribute to future financial success. Connect to helpful library resources as well as a place for informative peer-to-peer conversations about financial literacy so that good financial habits can start young! Places are limited to the first 20 participants registered before October 27. For more details, see the dedicated publication.

  • Boo in the farmyard (3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Children are invited to come in costume for Halloween activities such as ghost, pumpkin and corn candy crafts, mask making, and the special take on farm for treats! Pumpkin bowling, themed scavenger hunts, and garden games will also be ready for you, and the farm store will be open with even more goodies to take home. Pre-registration (and fees) obligatory.   • Wild night walk: bats (6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Reservations Trustees Event – A special night hike led by a Trustees Ranger / Naturalist. Learn about bats and how different types of plants and animals cope with the universal changes the earth undergoes through the seasons. Keep your eyes peeled for animal tracks and other signs of wildlife on the farm and in the woods! The hike will take around 30 minutes, followed by lemonade and s’mores around the campfire.   • Autumn pleasures on the farm (12:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in 90 minute windows) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Enjoy a classic New England fall day with apple cider, hay rides, a climbing haystack, music live, scenic walking trails, a walk and a tour to see goats, chickens and sheep. Treat yourself to delicious food, apple cider and other seasonal goodies available for purchase. Pre-registration (and fees) obligatory. For more details, see the dedicated article.
  • Halloween – Trick or Treat (usually around 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.): Southborough does not have official Trick or Treating hours. But, traditionally, children start ringing the bells here after dinner, at sunset on Halloween. The number of children varies considerably from one neighborhood to another.
