While the weather is not something to cheer about, this time of year officially begins the countdown to Christmas.
And here in Hertfordshire, over the next couple of months, events will get you into the Christmas spirit, whether it’s too early or not.

Hertfordshire has many beauty spots and luckily this year there are plenty of Christmas events taking place in the gardens like Hertford Castle and more.
While others will look to famous Herts Xmas events like Hoddesdon Loves Christmas which is fantastic every year.
In some towns, there will be a night full of fun as the region’s Christmas lights will be officially on.

Hertford Castle Christmas Market
November 26 – 28 (Friday 3 p.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday / Sunday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
For the first time in the grounds of Hertford Castle, a Christmas market will be held at the end of next month.
The market will only be open for a three-day event, but it’s an event you don’t want to miss.
A number of Christmas market stalls will be available offering a variety of different items and more.
Not only will you be able to shop early and local for Christmas this year, but you will also be able to do so in the spectacular gardens.
The castle is one of Hertfordshire’s hidden gems and is stunning at all times of the year.
St Albans will turn into Winter Wonderland
In November and December
Over the next couple of months, St Albans will host a variety of events and the city will be the place to be.
There will be a few special events you don’t want to miss, including live performers in the city center, live music, food, drink, and Christmas shopping.
Notable events are the city’s Christmas lights coming on on November 20, the St Albans Christmas Cracker the next day, Christmas markets in November and December, Christmas carols and street performances on 7, 10, 12 and December 23.

Knebworth Christmas Fair
November 26 – 28
Another amazing place in Herts is Knebworth House and this Christmas you can go there and soak up it all during the best time of year.
The fair will take place over three days and will be the perfect opportunity to collect party favors, food and drinks and to make memories with friends and family.

There will also be some great entertainment to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Hoddesdon loves Christmas
November 24 (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
This event is a winner every year because the city center is transformed into a place full of conviviality.
The day’s entertainment and activities, including an animal nursery and a reindeer tour of Paradise Wildlife Park, are just a taste of the fun activities planned.
There will also be live entertainment and Christmas stalls to tickle everyone.
The event will end with the Santa Claus Parade and at 5:45 p.m. a countdown to the lights on the Christmas tree followed by a short fireworks display over the city.
Harpenden Christmas Carnival
November 28 (12 p.m. – 6 p.m.)
Another event that will be fantastic is the Harpenden Christmas Carnival.
Harpenden High Street will turn into a fun carnival event which will be a great atmosphere and perfect for you and your friends to visit.
Following the disappointing cancellation of last year’s event, due to the pandemic, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever.
In true carnival style, there will be shows for everyone, so don’t miss out.
The Christmas lights will also be lit by the mayor of the city.

Stevenage Christmas Light Switching On
The Stevenage Borough Council is welcoming the new downtown Christmas light switch next month.
A music scene with a variety of musical acts, from singing singers to bands and even dance groups. Towards the end of the night, our VIPs (Mayor) light up the Christmas lights around the city center.

Welwyn Christmas Market and Lights On
November 27 (4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.)
Food stalls, Christmas lights, live music and entertainment, drinks, Santa Claus and more.
The Welwyn Christmas Market will be a great local event and will get everyone in the festive spirit.
Taking place on Codicote Road in the village, it will be a great event for anyone who shows up.
Hitchin Christmas Parade
November 20 (5:30 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.)
The Christmas Parade for Hitchin will be a great way to bring everyone together in the city to celebrate after a difficult time during the pandemic.
A band will perform throughout and everyone is invited to join in the fun.
Christmas at Paradise Wildlife Park
november to december
Santa is at Paradise Wildlife Park every weekend from November 27 and every day from December 18 to 24.
Santa will arrive in paradise in a beautiful cave based on the Safari scene where your little ones can safely join him for a fabulous photo op.
Completely free, the Santa Claus Cave is a fabulous event and makes all the little ones smile.

Knebworth Christmas lights come on
November 19 (5 p.m. to 8 p.m.)
If you want to see beautiful Knebworth transform into a wonderful village filled with Christmas lights, this event is for you.
It’s great for the locals to see your village light up.
Anyone who has been before knows it’s a blast, so it’s not to be missed.
Mama Hive ephemeral market
November 28 (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
The Mama Hive pop-up market is back this Christmas!
Celebrating small independent and female-run Herts businesses, The Mama Hive will appear in a brand new location – Southern Maltings in Ware for one day only.
It is your one stop destination for Christmas shopping. So do yourself a favor and support small businesses this Christmas.

Christmas tree lights come on in Hitchin
November 20 (12 p.m. – 8 p.m.)
The Hitchin Christmas Tree Lights Lighting Event takes place in the Marketplace.
By day, there will be a multitude of acts and choirs on stage, and the food traders and spectacular lights will come on.
Stevenage Christmas Market
November 28 (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
The market is one of the best in the county and there will be plenty of items to tempt you.
Personalized decorations, candles, confectionery, cake stand, makeup for kids, refreshments, handmade jewelry, wax melts, chocolate bouquets, raffle for kids to win prizes , And much more !
Letchworth lights come on
Save the date for the city’s Christmas lights to come on.

Visit Santa Claus in Hoddesdon
December 14 (10:30 am – 4:00 pm)
Costing £ 6 per child, this annual Christmas event always puts a smile on the face of people.
Learn about crafts, visit Santa Claus in his cave and receive a gift. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Reservations are not required and it is held at the Lowewood Museum.
Christmas Shopping Day at Waltham Cross
December 8 (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
Visitors will be able to browse and purchase gifts for the holiday season from the many craft, charity and promotional stalls on the High Street.
Entertainment will take place throughout the day and will include local dance and theater groups, choirs and other local artists.
The event is free to visit.
Christmas market in Watford
The Watford Market will be all Christmas on December 3rd with events hosted by the council each year.
Details for this year’s event have yet to be announced and will be after the Halloween event.
Turn on the Christmas light in Elstree and Borehamwood
November 28 (2 p.m. – 6 p.m.) at All Saints Church, Shenley Road (lighting at 4:30 p.m.)
The annual Christmas lights in Elstree and Borehamwood have a date and it will once again be a great community event.
Popular Eastenders star Lorraine Stanley will be turning on the Christmas lights this year.

St Albans Christmas Gift Show
November 6 – 7 (Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. & Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
This year’s giveaway show takes place at Oaklands College and is a weekend of festive entertainment and shopping.
Chevrons will have inspiring ideas and gifts for all of your friends and family.
The day will be full of gifts, housewares, crafts, festive food and delicious drinks. The event will be full of the sights, tastes and smells of Christmas. There really will be something for everyone.
