Stefanutti Stocks recently offered 12 healthcare workers the opportunity to attend an introductory course in palliative care, hosted by Hospice East Rand.
Palliative care is specialized medical care aimed at improving the quality of life of patients and their families facing the challenges associated with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness.
That’s according to Jonquil Siepman, Hospice East Rand’s marketing and media liaison officer.
“This is accomplished through the prevention and relief of suffering using the early identification, assessment and treatment and control of pain and other physical, psychosocial and spiritual challenges.

“Most healthcare workers have not been equipped with the necessary skills in palliative care and Hospice East Rand can fill this void through the training courses they provide,” she said.
Thanks to the construction company that provided this opportunity, the twelve healthcare workers were equipped with information and practical skills related to palliative care to help them manage patients in a healthcare environment at residence.
