The city-based Spinnaker Chorus raised a total of £ 604 for the chosen charity, Children with Cancer UK.
Despite the restrictions of the coronavirus lockdown, the group sold CDs, held raffles and collected public donations. Before the lockdown restrictions were imposed, the group had already hosted a number of singing nights, participated in Christmas events and held bingo nights to raise funds.
Since its formation in 2004, the choir has selected a different charity each year to benefit from its fundraising.
Choir member Diana Carver commented, âCancer is a scary thing for adults, let alone children. I chose the association because I hope that the donation will be used to make the children less anxious and frightened.
