LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Members of the Saint Peter Claver Church choir surprised choir director Leny Thomas with a special blessing singing outside the rehabilitation hospital where Thomas is currently recovering from ‘a car accident last month.
Lexington Police say Thomas was driving his car on July 22sd, when it crashed into a light pole on Mercer Road, causing a gas line to rupture.
Police say he was trapped in his car and sustained serious injuries
Father Norman Fischer of Saint Peter Claver Church says Leny lost his left hand up to the elbow, has brain swelling and rib injuries.
His recovery will be long … so the choir members wanted to cheer him up by singing.
âToday is a day he was able to improve so much. He can’t wait to be released soon, but we wanted to be able to cheer him up and remind him that we have so much to look forward to together. So we came as a choir to sing praises, sing songs and hymns and uplift her soul. His minds are in the right place, he said I thought the Lord was going to take me, but I guess he still has work to do for me, âsaid Father Norman Fischer.
It is not known why or how Thomas crashed that night.
