MANKATO, Minn.. – Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Music and Entertainment Industries presents a number of concerts by student ensembles in the run-up to spring break week.
Instrumental Jazz and Contemporary Vocal Groups February 26
The Jazz Mavericks and Contemporary Singers will perform Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. The concert will take place at the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Avenue. Douglas Snapp leads the instrumental jazz groups. The a cappella vocal groups Maverick Fusion and Vocal Precision are co-directed by Snapp and Stephanie Thorpe. The program will include big band arrangements and popular a cappella versions of popular songs.
Winter Choir February 27
The Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform their annual Winter Concert on Sunday, February 27 at 3 p.m. The backing vocals are conducted by Aaron Humble. the concert takes place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 632 South Broad Street in Mankato. The title of the concert is “He who sings. . .”. with the groups performing an assortment of repertoire with a musical blend from the Renaissance to the contemporary.
Concert Ensemble of wind instruments March 1st
The Concert Wind Ensemble will perform on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Avenue. The ensemble is led by Amy K. Roisum Foley. The concert presents “Pictures at an Exhibition”, a suite of 10 pieces plus a recurring and varied theme from Promenade, composed in 1874 by the Russian composer Modeste Moussorgski.

Admission to the concert is $9 for general admission and $7 for students and children in grades K-12. University students are admitted free with a valid MavCARD.
