UAPD will offer free “Stop the Bleed” training on Friday; Save a life

To observe ASG Safety Week, UAPD is offering free Stop the Bleed training to the campus community. The training will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. this Friday, April 15 at the Pat Walker Health Center room 1116. No registration is required, just show up and receive the training.

In many cases, bleeding is a preventable cause of death. The ability to recognize life-threatening bleeds and the ability to intervene effectively can save a person’s life. Whether a bleeding wound is the result of a home accident or a shooting, someone who is on the scene, at the right time, and with the right skills can make a life or death difference.

Often, the person standing next to a bleeding victim is the person most likely to save them. That’s why one of the aims of the Stop the Bleed initiative is to turn civilians into “immediate responders” – a term that describes the first person at the scene of an injury. This person is rarely a trained medical provider.

If you have a department or organization that would like to take the free Stop the Bleed training, please contact the UAPD Emergency Management Division via email at [email protected]
